National Grain and Feed Association Joins Center for American Food Power to Help Strengthen America's Food Security

With roughly 700 member companies moving the nation's grain and oilseed harvest from farm to market, the National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has joined the Center for American Food Power (CAFP) as a member of the Food Power Alliance.
As part of the Center, NGFA will provide guidance and professional support by contributing insight into the storage, processing, transportation, and export networks that connect crop producers to food manufacturers, livestock and poultry producers, biofuel makers, and customers worldwide. That perspective will help ensure CAFP's work reflects the logistics and infrastructure realities behind the nation's food and agricultural capacity.
Founded in 1896, NGFA represents companies across the grain, feed, and related industries, from farmer-owned cooperatives and local elevators to major agribusinesses, processors, exporters, feed manufacturers, commodity merchandisers, and transportation providers. The association advocates before Congress and federal agencies on legislation, regulation, trade, transportation infrastructure, grain inspection and standards, environmental requirements, workplace safety, and feed safety, and provides members with technical resources, education, trade rules, and arbitration services. A 2025 NGFA economic impact study found the industry supports approximately 1.16 million jobs and generates $401.7 billion in total economic output nationwide.
"Food security is national security, and national security depends on logistics," said Brett Sciotto, Founder of the Center for American Food Power and Chief Executive Officer of Idealyst Innovation. "When rail, river, or port capacity falters, the effects run all the way back to the farm. NGFA's members operate those systems every day, and that knowledge will help the Center identify where the system is strongest and where it is most exposed."
"Grain and feed companies take what farmers grow and turn it into food, animal feed, and fuel, some of which is exported, and the system only works when every link keeps moving," said Mike Seyfert, President and CEO of NGFA. "We are pleased to join the Center for American Food Power and to share the practical, operational perspective of our members as it works toward the long-term strength of American agriculture."
