The Center for American Food Power (CAFP) welcomes Innovative Livestock Services (ILS), a privately held cattle-finishing, farming, and agribusiness enterprise with operations across Kansas and Nebraska, as a new member of the Food Power Alliance.

"Beef production is a long chain of relationships, from the rancher and the feedyard to the packer, the retailer, and the family at the table," said Lee Borck, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of ILS. "We have spent decades working to align those pieces, and we are glad to join the Center for American Food Power as it looks at how to keep America's food system strong."

ILS grew from an independent cattle-feeding operation in central Kansas into a diversified agricultural business under founder Lee Borck, who retired as chairman in April 2024 and continues as a major shareholder, board member, and chairman emeritus. The company buys cattle from producers across the country and manages their development through its feedyards, while also coordinating procurement, logistics, marketing, and risk-management services for producers. Through ILS Farms, it manages more than 50,000 acres in central Kansas growing corn, soybeans, alfalfa, wheat, and other small grains, using irrigation technology and reusing cattle manure as fertilizer. Its broader operations include agricultural retail and irrigation services, compost manufacturing, fuel distribution, feed manufacturing, and commodity transportation.

As part of the Center, ILS will provide guidance and professional support, bringing the viewpoint of a production-focused company that connects cattle feeding, crop production, and agricultural services. That experience will help ground CAFP's analysis and policy frameworks in how food is raised, moved, and marketed from farm to consumer.

"ILS shows how connected the food supply chain really is: the grain grown in one field feeds the cattle in the next yard, and the beef moves on to processors, retailers, and families," said Brett Sciotto, Founder of the Center for American Food Power and Chief Executive Officer of Idealyst Innovation. "Lee spent his career building those links, and his perspective will help the Center look at the system as a whole rather than one segment at a time."
